Key Stage 2
In Key Stage 2 we encourage children to become inquisitive, confident individuals with the necessary skills to become lifelong learners.
We follow a wide-ranging curriculum, which includes English, Mathematics, Science, Computing, History and Geography, Environmental Studies, PSHCE (Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education), Music, Art & Design and Physical Education. We follow the English National Curriculum in English, Mathematics and Science and we teach the necessary skills for other curriculum areas, adapting the content to suit our needs.
There is emphasis on cross-curricular teaching, creativity in all curriculum areas and the development of higher order thinking skills.
Every child is an individual and the way they learn best differs from one child to another. Because of the size of the school and the GES ethos, we prioritise this individuality. We cater for a wide range of learning styles and abilities by designing the depth and pace of the teaching and learning to meet the needs of the each child.
Learning in the classroom is enhanced by extracurricular activities, visits to local museums and theatres, participation in musical productions, sporting events and inviting external visitors to the school.
